Application of microbial membrane tetraether lipids in speleothems

چکیده
Glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs), which are derived from microbial membranes, occur widely in soils, peats, lake sediments, marine hot springs, and other environments. GDGTs respond sensitively to environmental changes have become an important tool paleoenvironmental reconstruction. However, their application speleothems, one of the most archives study past climates, has been quite limited. In this paper, we review recent progress sources distribution characteristics applications. speleothems shown come dripping water, cave systems. The shows that archaeal isoprenoid (isoGDGTs) dominate over bacterial branched (brGDGTs). proxies based on isoGDGTs (TEX 86 ) brGDGTs (MBT/CBT) correlated with temperature, may offer promising potential methods for reconstructing terrestrial palaeotemperature. Ultimately, discuss difficulties problems be solved studying speleothem possible future directions field.
